The Côtes d’Armor river and its valley
The Rance Valley forms an essential estuary of the region. The tides play a very important role and create a set of very different landscapes. From Dinan to Dinard and Saint-Malo, the banks of the river are really worth a visit!
The picturesque villages along the Rance
The Rance river has its source in the Mené mountains in Collinée and flows into the Manche after 100 km. The course of the Rance river crosses many municipalities:
- Léhon, a small city of character, much less known than its neighbor Dinan, is no less charming. Monks and lords have built a monastery, the Saint-Magloire Abbey, and a fortress overlooking the banks of the Rance. You will be able to stroll and discover the benefits of plants in the medicinal garden of the Abbey, to stroll in the paved lanes and to admire the very small colored doors of the stone houses.
- Dinan, the medieval city marked by centuries of history. Within the walls, the city is full ofworkshops and stores of all kinds. The curious love to stroll through the cobblestone streets, especially the steep Jerzual Street, in a medieval atmosphere. You can visit the castle or take a walk on the small marina below.
- Saint-Suliac, the old fishermen’s village classified among the most beautiful villages of France. Come and stroll along the port in the early morning or admire the changing colors of the granite from which the houses of the village are fashioned. Here, the streets are so narrow that they are nicknamed “the ruettes”.
The ponds of Bétineuc in Saint-André-des-Eaux
Just outside Evran and ten minutes south of Dinan are several lakes. The site is divided into two areas: one reserved for fishing and the other for recreation. The Bétineuc leisure center is ideal for families in search of relaxation in the middle of nature and sports activities. Everything is provided to spend a day around the beach: supervised swimming in fresh water, restaurant area, sailing, kayak or canoe rental, a mini-golf course and fishing trails. The tour of the Grenouillère pond and the main pond is a 3 km hiking circuit that can be done on foot, by bike or on horseback!
