Experience a day in the pure Breton tradition
If you've chosen Brittany for your holiday, it's likely that you have a soft spot for Celtic music or the Breton galette! And if you haven't already, we've put together a typically Breton programme for you.

Breton breakfast
In the morning, we start by awakening our senses with a breakfast featuring some of the region's specialities. Just the thought of it makes our mouths water! The Bretons are gourmets, and here we don't skimp, preparing a well-stocked table for a convivial moment.
A short list of Breton breakfast essentials:
- the crêpes,
- the palet breton, A crunchy, crumbly little cake
- the Breton shortbread, A crunchy shortbread with a salty buttery taste
- brioche or« Pastez »
- the far breton, the famous prune pastry flan
- the Kouign-Amann, a kind of puff pastry with butter and caramelised sugar
- the salted butter caramel, A must for pancakes!
- the semi-salted butter for «un tamm bara'mann» a slice of buttered bread
You can find some of these delicacies at the’grocery shop on the campsite, and for the full list, head to the bakery at Notre-Dame-du-Guildo or Matignon and Saint-Cast.
Breton legends

After a hearty breakfast, there's nothing like a good walk to burn off some calories in search of the « Sounding Stones ». Departing from campsite, From the beach at Les 4 Vaulx, take the customs path (GR34) towards the port of Le Guildo. You're in for a treat! You can already enjoy the magnificent panorama of Arguenon Bay and the Ebihens archipelago opposite the beach. Then set off for a 3km walk along the cliffs on a wooded path. If the sun comes out, you'll be lucky enough to see the emerald blue that gives our coast its name. You've certainly earned a break at the Pierres Sonnantes site!
The stones are scattered on the beach at the lieu-dit Goule d'Enfer, their name comes from the fact that they ring when struck with another stone. This metallic sound like a small bell amazes children and parents alike.
Like many Breton stones, the sounding stones are associated with a legend. Here, they refer to Gargantua, who spent part of his life in Brittany and left his mark. Legend has it that these stones are the result of indigestion suffered by Gargantua, who swallowed them and then vomited again.
Walking along the GR34 is the best way to discover or rediscover the Breton coastline and some of its secrets. Remember to bring good walking shoes as the path is quite steep in places.

Breton shuffleboard

For an afternoon of games in a Breton atmosphere, choose your pitch in a green area. Set up the wooden plank on the ground, hand out 4 cast-iron pucks per player and off you go for a few hours of festive competition with family and friends. The game is simple throw the pucks as close as possible to the master, known as «the kid». A puck that is on the ground or has touched the ground before arriving on the board is void and must be removed. If a player pushes the master off the board, the game is cancelled. A real game of skill and teamwork that will delight young and old alike.
The rules of the game :
- Put the small one on the board and place the teams 5 metres from the board. Each team throws a puck and the team with the puck closest to the master starts the game.
- The first team takes the small ball and has 3 tries to throw it and place it on the board. If they fail to do so, the other teams try their luck. The team that succeeds in placing the master on the board then throws 1 puck.
- A team throws pucks until they win the point back.
- When all the pucks have been played, the winning player (or team) is the one whose puck is closest to the master. Each puck between the master and the opposing team's first puck earns 1 point.
- A game is won by 12 points, the belle by 15 points.
